Now hundreds,
The first hundred(100) is simply səl – سل.
The 200 and onwards are said as **x sawa**.
x = the number of hundreds
Examples:
200 = dwa sawa (دوه سوه)
900 = naha sawa (نهه سوه)
1500 = pinźəlas sawa (پينځهٔ-لس سوه)
Now thousands,
The first one thousand(1000) is simply zər – زر.
The 2000 and onwards are said as “x zara”.
x = the number of thousands
Examples:
2000 = dwa zara (دوه زره)
4000 = śalor zara (څلور زره)
9000 = naha zara (نهه زره)
12000 = dʷolas zara (دو-لس زره)
Let’s also mention one particular fraction: the half.
Half is ‘nim – نيم’ in Pashto.
Want to say ‘1.5’ or ‘one and a half’?
Simply say, “yəw nim – یو نيم”.
3.5 = “dre nim – درې نيم”
Eight and a half thousand = “at(ə) nim zara – اتهٔ نيم زيره”
Let’s talk about dialectal variations.
In many sub-dialects, the last numbers follow this formula: x = y – z.
x = the number we want
y = the next ten
z = the number we minus from y to yield x
Examples:
The number 28 is said as, “dwa kam derš – دوه کم دېرش”
49 = yəw kam panźos – یو کم پنځوس
97 = dre kam səl – درې کم سل
Even final tens are subjected to this pattern. Examples:
90 = las kam səl – لس کم سل
80 = šəl kam səl – شل کم سل
In some sub-dialects, the last tens, for instance ninety(90) is said as Eighty(+)Ten = atyā las – اتیا لس.
